The "MSC CAMILLE", hull No. 4136, is the second vessel of the 14000 TEU class, delivered from the South Korean shipyard DSME, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. Okpo Shipyard, Geoje-si, South Korea, to her owners Mediterranean Shipping Company in Geneva, Switzerland.

The "MSC CAMILLE" was delivered by the builders on 01.07.2009 to her owners Veldus Holding SA, Panama (Management: MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA, Genève, Switzerland / Tech. mgmt: MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. S.r.l., Piano di Sorrento, Italia). Her keel was laid on 30.12.2008 and the launching was on am 28.02.2009. She is trading on the line North Europe to the Far East.

She is 365.52 m long, 51.20 m wide and has a depth of 29.90 m. The vessel has a deadweight of 165,644 metric tonnes on a summer draught of 16.00 m. Her container capacity is 13,300 TEU. The bridge superstructure is separated from the aft engine room and its engine casing/funnel superstructure and is situated about one third from the bow.

Propulsion is by one 12-cylinder, slow speed, crosshead diesel engine of MAN-B&W design, type: 12K98 MC-C, constructed by Doosan Engine Co. Ltd., Changwon, South Korea. The power developed is 72,240 kW (98,250 BHP) at 104 RPM, which gives the vessel a speed of about 25.40 knots.

"MSC CAMILLE" collided with the aframax tanker "Torm Marina" (IMO No. 9319698), 42 miles east of Gibraltar at 14:25 local time on 20/06/2010 which sustained heavy damage starboard abaft her forcastle. The "MSC CAMILLE" sustained only minor scraches and dents on her bow region.
