This oil/chemical product tanker was constructed as hull number 76 for the Yardimci Shipping Group (Yardimci Gemi Insaat AS, Istanbul) in their own shipyard Yardimci Tersanesi A.S., Tuzla, Turkey (Asian side of Istanbul). The keel laying was done on 28.12.2007 and the vessel was launched on 28.08.2009. On completion and delivery from the builder’s yard on 12.03.2010 the vessel was first registered as CIMIL under the flag of Turkey, home port Istanbul. IMO No. 9487378. Call sign: TCW09.

The tanker has a summer deadweight of 4’750 mt on a draft of 6,10 m. The 10 cargo tanks are equipped with Framo deepwell pumps.

The propulsion is by two 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engines from Wärtsilä Oy, Turku, Finland, type: 6L20, each coupled to a CP-propeller through a reduction gear box. Electrical power of 440 VAC/60Hz is supplied by 2 shaft generators and 2 diesel generator sets.

The crew consists of 14 men, the master is French and the other people are mainly from the Ukraine, but occasionally other nationals, such as Russians or Georgians are also serving on the vessel.

On 06.05.2010 the vessel was registered in Luxembourg (Official No. 1864, call sign: LXCI) and on 11.05.2010 ABCmaritime, Nyon took over the management and the CIMIL is now trading as bunker tanker in the English Channel, working out of the port of Le Havre, France.

An interesting detail, although the propulsion plant of the CIMIL is designed to burn heavy fuel, the engines operate on diesel oil only to meet the new environmental regulations of the IMO (MARPOL Annex VI)). The North Sea, the English Channel and the Baltic Sea are now part of a S.E.C.A., Sulphur Emission Control Area, which means only fuel with less then 1,5 % sulphur can be used. On 01.07.2010 this value was reduced to 1,0 % and on 01.01.2015 was further reduced to 0,1 %.

After termination of her time charter with Total Marine Fuels the CIMIL was returned and handed-over to her owners Yardimci Shipping Group on 26.01.2015 for further trading. Her name and flag were retained. Registered owners: Yardimci Gemi Insaat AS, Istanbul. Managers: Ayder Tankers AS, Istanbul.

In March 2015 ownership transferred to CIMIL Shipping Ltd., Valletta. Same managers.
