This multipurpose, container vessel was built in Gelibolu Shipyard S.A. for their own account, as the hull number 17. The keel was laid on 21.04.1997 and she was launched on 26.11.1998 as "AKSOY TRUVA". The owners Riza Aksoy Denizcilik Sanay ve Ticaret A.S., Istanbul took her over on 03.06.1999. She was registered under Turkish flag with home port Istanbul (IMO No: 9168697, official No: 7486, call sign: TCIS) and the management was by Ufuk Denizcilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., Istanbul. The vessel is equipped with 2 side-mounted cargo cranes, each 40,0 mt SWL. (Safe Working Load).
Truva is the Turkish name for Troy, the ancient city of Greek history (troyan war), which was located on the Asian side of the Dardanelles, near Canakkale. The excavated ruins are now a popular tourist attraction.
In the year 2000 the ship was bareboat chartered to Pacifica Shipping 1985 Ltd., Christchurch in New Zealand. The company registered her in the new homeport Lyttelton under the the flag of New Zealand. She was renamed "SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE" (official No: 876180, call sign: ZMPS). During this time the vessel was engaged in coastal trade along the coasts of New Zealand.
In January 2004 the Turkish owners took the vessel back and reinstated her under her original name "AKSOY TRUVA" in the Turkish registry. For some time the vessel continued to trade in the Far East.
In April 2007 the vessel was purchased by Haga Sophia Ltd., Valletta, Malta and the technical management changed to ABC Maritime, Nyon. The vessel was handed over on 03.05.2007 in the container port of Marsaxlokk in the south of Malta. She was renamed "TRUVA A" and registered under the flag of Malta (official No: 10552, (new rule on the Malta registry, in future the IMO Number, here on this ship no. 9168697 is as well the official Malta register number), call sign: 9HYS8). The "TRUVA A" continued to trade in the Mediterranean Sea.
Same year in September 2007 the ship was sold again to Werse Schiffahrts GmbH & Co KG Emden and the vessel was handed over in La Spezia, Italy on 26.09.2007. She was renamed "THEMSE" and registered under Cyprus flag. The management changed to Werse Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG, Münster, Germany.

20/03/2008 arrived in Merwehaven, Rotterdam and renamed "NIRINT ROTTERDAM". 21/03/2008 sailed for Moerdijk for her new charter by Nirint Shipping B.V., Rotterdam.
08/06/2009 sold to Werse Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG ms 'Pacific', Emden, same management and same flag. Renamed "PACIFIC".
18/09/2009: The D/S Norden controlled bulk carrier "Nord Explorer" (32'379/09) rescued the crew of 13 from the German controlled container carrier "PACIFIC" in the Southern Atlantic, 100 miles off the coast of Gabon (0° 11.5' S, 7° 55' E), as the latter one started to leak taking in water and rapidly became unstable. The "PACIFIC" captain made a distress call and the nearest vessel "Nord Explorerr", which was on voyage from Abidjan to the Far East, reached the "PACIFIC" after two and a half hours and was able to pick up the crew members. Eventually the "PACIFIC" sank. The 1999-built container vessel has been operating in a feeder service covering the coasts of Angola, Congo and Cameroon. The bulker "Nord Explorer" (32'379/09) is owned by Kansai Steamship, Tokyo, and is time chartered (with purchase option) by D/S Norden. The Panama-flagged 58,800-DWT "Nord Explorer" was delivered in 2009.
