
This general cargo ship was built by Lithgows Ltd., Port Glasgow, U.K. (hull No. 1056) for British & Burmese Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., manager of the vessel was P. Henderson & Co., Glasgow, (also known as "Paddy Henderson"), The launching was on Friday, June 16, 1950, the ship was baptized KALADAN by Miss Naismith, a secretary who worked for 52 years for the company P. Henderson in Glasgow. The delivery to her owners took place on 27.10.1950 and the maiden voyage under Capt. K.S. Marsh was to West Africa under a time charter with Elder Dempster Lines Ltd. Liverpool. The KALADAN sailed under the British flag (official No.: 182158, call sign: MBPX). The propulsion of the freighter was by one 3-cylinder, opposed piston diesel engine from Dowford and her cargo gear consisted of 10 cargo winches with the following derricks 4 x 10 tons, 4 x 5 tons and 2 x 3 tons SWL (SWL = Safe Working Load).
The shipping company P. Henderson was taken over by Elder Dempster Line Ltd. Liverpool on January 30, 1952.
1963 the freighter was sold for a reported price of 98,000 £ to Compañia de Navegación Candria S. A., Panama, with the company Sebastiano Tuillier, Lugano, Switzerland, acting as managers. The ship was renamed ACTIVITY and was registered under the flag of Panama (Official No.: 3709-L, call sign: HOWZ).
1968 the ship received the Lloyd's Register No.: 5409988.
As from 1974 the Internautical Service Lugano, Lugano, Switzerland was responsible for the vessel's management.
On 30.06.1977 the ACTIVITY left Dubai under tow for Pakistan, arriving in Karachi on 11.07.1977, where she was beached on the Gadani Beach for demolition. Reasons given for the scrapping was a reported major engine damage, other sources claim, she had a collision on 13.06.1977.
