The ship with the hull number 1530 was laid down on February 19, 2001 and launched on April 11, 2001 as APPENZELL. The owner became the subsidiary Masscape S.A., Friborg. The three ships were built at Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Tamano, near Hiroshima. The handover to the owner took place on July 12, 2001.
