On November 1, 1999, Massoel Maritime Holding S.A., Friborg, awarded Mitsui & Co. Ltd, Tokyo, the contract to build three Handymax bulk carriers of the same type. The ship with the hull number 1530 was laid down on February 19, 2001 and launched on April 11, 2001 as APPENZELL. The owner became the subsidiary Masscape S.A., Friborg. The three ships were built at Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Tamano, near Hiroshima. The handover to the owner took place on July 12, 2001. The christening by Ms. Malka Gouzer had already taken place on June 1, together with the two sister ships m / s URI and m / s GLARUS. With the entry in the register of Swiss seagoing vessels on July 12th, 2001, the m / s APPENZELL received the official number: 162 and the call sign HBLN as well as the IMO No.: 9227833. The management took over the Massoel Gestion Maritime S.A. in genf.

This dry cargo ship is equipped with four 30 ton SWL (Safe Working Load) cranes with loading shovels. The maiden voyage led via Busan to Port Kembla, Australia.

Since July 2002 the management is called: Massoel Gestion S.A., Genève.

05.09.2007: The management name was changed to Massoel Meridian Ltd., Genève.

As of July 11, 2007 the owner will be Massmariner S.A., Friborg.

07.03.2008: Sold in Antwerp at 13:45 UTC to the Greek owner Danos Shipping SA (Management: Dalomar Shipping SA, Glyfada, Athens) and was registered under the flag of Malta. Renamed DANOS Z. Official No.: 9227833. Call Sign: 9HLL9.

In September 2014 registered in Monrovia, Liberia. Official No.: 16682. Call sign: D5HG8.

On 26.11.2020 purchased by Alby Unity SA (Management: DCT Shipping Ltd , Office 418, ul Henuez'ka 24B, Odessa, Ukraine), Panama and renamed ALBY UNITY. Official No.: n.a. Call sign 3ESO2.

Purchased on January 5th, 2022 by Unity Navigation Holding Ltd. (Management: Unity Navigation Denizcilik AS, Istanbul), Panama. New name VIVA UNITY.
