Diese Offshore Arbeits- & Hotelbarge wurde in China bei Nantong Hongqiang  Marine Heavy Industries Ltd., Qidong nahe Shanghai für Otto Marine Ltd., Singapur gebaut. Die OTTO 5 wurde unter Baunummer ist H7062 im Jahr 2010 gebaut und die Barge wurde Mai im 2011 fertiggestellt. Zuerst wurde sie unter Panama Flagge registriert und nachdem sie nach Batam, Indonesien (bei Singapur) geschleppt worden war, wurde sie vom MODU-Code (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) zum neuen, verbesserten SPS-2008-Code (Special Purpose Ship) umgebaut, eine sehr kostspielige und zeitraubende Aufgabe, mussten doch auch Anpassungen in der Stahlkonstruktion der Schiffshülle und in den Rohrsystemen vorgenommen werden, sowie die ganzen Sicherheitseinrichtungen überprüft werden, z.B. wurden geschlossene Rettungsboote installiert und hunderte andere Details angepasst.

Anfangs 2012 wurde die Barge von Otto 5 Ltd. St. Vincent & The Grenadines angekauft und am 09.02.2012 in Batam von ABCmaritime, Nyon, Schweiz übernommen.

Die OTTO 5, ist eine Schwesterbarge der OTTO 1 und OTTO 2 und ist 100 m lang, hat eine Breite von 30,5 m und eine Seitenhöhe von 7,62 m. Die Barge hat ein Eigengewicht (lightweight) von 5'651 mt und eine Tragfähigkeit (dead weight) von 11'125 mt bei einem Tiefgang von 5,5 m voll beladen.

Elektrische Energie wird erzeugt von 5 Dieselgeneratoren, Caterpillar, Model: 3412, von je 500 kW Leistung und von einer Notstromgruppe, Caterpillar von 215 kW Leistung (A.C. 3-phase 415/230 V, 50 Hz). Alle nötigen Hilfs- und Sicherheitssysteme sind installiert, wie beispielsweise Klimaanlagen, Kläranlage, Frischwassererzeuger, Sprinklersystem und anderes mehr. Zwei Antirolltanks sind installiert, um die Sicherheit auf dem Arbeitsdeck und den Komfort von Mannschaft und Arbeitern zu erhöhen.

Die Barge hat ein 8-Punkt Ankersystem (8-point mooring system), vollständig überwacht und bedient vom Kontrollzentrum oben im Deckhaus. Jeder der 8 Flipper-Delta Anker hat ein Gewicht von 7,0 mt und die Ankerstahldrähte von 52 mm Durchmesser haben je eine Länge von 1500 m. Die Ankerwinden (85 mt Zugkraft) sind geschützt in eigenen Räumen unter Deck angeordnet. Ein Kran von 68 mt Hebevermögen bedient das Arbeitsdeck.

Das Helikopterlandedeck ist ausgelegt um Sikorsky S-92 Helikopter landen und starten zu lassen. Sikorsky S-92 Helikopter, die bis zu 19 Passagiere transportieren können, sind viel verwendete Helikopter in der Ölindustrie.

Die OTTO 5 hat Unterkünfte für 300 Personen, mit eingerechnet die seemännische und die Hotelmannschaft. Eine Messe im "self-service" Style für 150 Personen, sowie Raucherraum, Videoraum, Konferenzraum, Hospital and mehrere Büros für die Mannschaft und die Leiter der verschiedenen Arbeitsteams sind vorhanden

Nachdem OTTO 5 im Februar 2012 in Batam übernommen worden war, wurde sie unter Malta Flagge registriert (Register Nr: 13685, Rufzeichen: 9HA3000). Im gleichen Monat wurde die Barge in Singapur an  Exmar N.V. Antwerpen, Belgien in Bareboatcharter übergeben.

Die OTTO 5 verblieb bis Juli 2012 in einer Werft in Singapur, um verschiedene Anpassungen für ihre neue Aufgabe auszuführen. Erwähnenswert ist die teleskopische Gangway (telescopic gangway) die auf dem Vordeck montiert wurde und die sicheren Zugang zwischen Barge und Platform gewährleistet, auch bei einem Seegang von bis zu 2-3 m. Ein vollautomatisches Hydrauliksystem gleicht die Bewegungen der Barge aus. OTTO 5 wurde jetzt unter der Flagge von Liberia registriert (Rufzeichen: D5BX8 / MMSI Nr.: 636092415) und nachdem alle Arbeiten im Juli 2012 beendet waren, wurde die Barge auf das semi-submersible Spezialschiff TERN von Dockwise, Breda, Holland geladen für ihre lange Reise nach Nigeria, Westafrika. Hier wird die Barge in den Ölfeldern eines Ölkonzerns vor der Küste eingesetzt.

Registrierter Eigner ist die Al Gafai Marine Services Co. Das Management führt die Zakher Marine International Inc. Abu Dhabi aus

La barge de travail et hôtel OTTO-5 est la copie (presque) conforme de la barge OTTO-1et -2 donc, voir les spécifications et arrangements sur la page dédiée à OTTO-1.

Cette barge fut construite au chantier naval Nantong Hongqiang Marine Heavy Industries Ltd., Qidong

près de Shanghai pour Otto Marine Ltd à Singapour. No. De constr. H7062, en 2010 et complétée en mai 2011. Elle aussi, comme Otto-2, fut transférée à Batam pour complément d'installation de divers équipements, entre autres pour se mettre aux nouvelles normes spécifiques aux travaux sur les champs pétroliers.

Début 2012, la barge fut achetée par la Otto-5 Ltd, Kingston, St-Vincent and the Grenadines et prise en charge (gestion) par ABCmaritime. C'était le 09.02.2012.

Le bâtiment est immatriculé sous pavillon maltais. Off.no. 13685, indicatif d'appel 9HA3000. Le même mois que sa prise en charge, à Singapour, la barge fut affrétée coque nue par Exmar N.V.Anvers, Belgique.

L'OTTO-5 demeura dans un chantier naval de Singapour jusqu'en juillet 2012 pour divers travaux de conversion pour son emploi future. A mentionner serait l'installation d'une passerelle télescopique (OAS, Offshore System), une énorme structure métallique donnant accès direct à la plateforme pétrolière voisine, utilisable par les personnes transitant même par houle de 2 à 3 mètres. Après achèvement de tous les travaux à Singapour, la barge fut chargée sur un cargo spécial, semi-submersible (une combinaison entre un navire et un dock flottant..) pour son long voyage de positionnement de Singapour aux côtes du Nigéria où elle travaille maintenant.

This offshore work & accommodation barge was built in China by Nantong Hongqiang Marine Heavy Industries Ltd., Qidong, near Shanghai for Otto Marine Ltd., Singapore. OTTO 5 was built under hull number H7062 in 2010 and completed in May 2001. She was first registered in Panama and after towing her to Batam, Indonesia (near Singapore) she was converted and improved from the MODU-code (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) to the new, more enhanced SPS-2008-code (Special Purpose Ship), a very costly and time-consuming task, involving changes in the steel structure and pipe systems, safety equipment, including fitting of enclosed life boats and hundreds of other items.

Begin of 2012 the barge was purchased by Otto 5 Ltd. St. Vincent & The Grenadines and taken over by ABCmaritime, Nyon, Switzerland on 09.02.2012 in Batam.

The barge OTTO 5, is a sister vessel of OTTO 1 and OTTO 2. She is 100 m long, has a width of 30,5 m and a depth of 7,62 m. The barge has a lightweight of 5'651 mt, a deadweight of 11'125 mt and the fully loaded draft is 5,5 m.

Electrical power is supplied by 5 diesel generators, Caterpillar, model: 3412, each with an output of 500 kW and one emergency diesel generator, Caterpillar of 215 kW output (A.C. 3-phase 415/230 V, 50 Hz). All the necessary ancillary and safety systems are installed, such as air condition, sewage plant, reverse osmosis fresh water makers and sprinkler system. Two anti-rolling tanks are installed to enhance the safety on the work deck and give comfort for the crew and workers on board.

The barge has an 8-point mooring system, fully controlled from the control center on top of the deck house. Each of the 8 Flipper-Delta anchors has a weight of 7,0 mt and the 52 mm diameter anchor wires have a length of 1500 m each. The anchor winches (85 mt pull each) are located below deck in special compartments. The main crane of 68 mt lifting capacity serves the work deck.

The helicopter deck is large enough to handle Sikorski S-92 helicopters, a well known helicopter in the oil industry, carrying up to 19 passengers.

The OTTO 5 has accommodations for 300 persons, including the marine crew and catering staff. There are a mess room / self-service restaurant for 150 persons, smoke rooms, auditorium, conference room, hospital and several offices for the crew and the leaders of the work teams.

After take-over In Batam the OTTO 5 was registered under Malta flag (official No: 13685, call sign: 9HA3000). In the same month the barge was bareboat chartered to Exmar N.V. Antwerp, Belgium and handed-over in Singapore.

The OTTO 5 stayed until July in a shipyard in Singapore for various conversion and adaption work for her future employment. To mention is the telescopic gangway (OAS Offshore Access System), a huge structure on the foredeck, which gives save access to the oil platform under sea conditions up to 2-3 m of swell. A fully-automated hydraulic system compensates for the movement of the barge. The OTTO 5 was registered now under the Liberian flag (Call sign: D5BX8 / MMSI No. 636092415) and on completion of all works in July 2012 she was loaded on the semi-submersible TERN of Dockwise, Breda, Netherlands for her long journey to Nigeria, West Africa. The barge will be used in the offshore oilfields of one of the major oil companies.
